Questions
Can someone see where a photo was taken?+
Often, yes. Phones usually save GPS coordinates inside the photo file, and anyone who gets the original file can read them.
What metadata does this remove?+
All of it: location, camera and lens, date taken, editing software and any other EXIF tags. Only the picture is saved.
Does removing metadata change the photo?+
The picture stays the same. JPEG and WebP photos are saved again at 92% quality, which is hard to tell apart from the original, and PNG stays lossless.
Do other tools here keep the metadata?+
Usually not: when a tool changes the photo, the saved file is written fresh without the original metadata. This tool makes sure of it without changing anything else.
Are my photos uploaded?+
No. The metadata is removed in your browser, and the photo never leaves your device.
